Balparmak brings women beekeepers to the sector through its Beekeeping Academy
Dr. Emel Damarlı, Research and Development and Quality Director at Balparmak, stated that they are experiencing the joy of winning such an award through the choice of women, and emphasized that the Balparmak Beekeeping Academy plays an important role in steering women toward beekeeping, a profession they do not frequently choose. Damarlı shared the following information regarding the Beekeeping Academy: "In Turkey, beekeeping is practiced as a hereditary profession. With the Beekeeping Academy we established in 2018, we aim to move beyond viewing beekeeping solely as a hereditary profession, particularly bringing women and youth into the sector. At the Balparmak Beekeeping Academy, we provide training on the most fundamental subjects that ensure quality production in the beekeeping profession and the sustainability of the profession, such as bee life and biology, colony care and management, bee diseases, queen bee production, bee product production, beekeeping equipment, regulations and nectar-bearing plants. To date, we have brought 104 aspiring beekeepers into the profession, 52 of whom are women. We are currently continuing our work in Muğla, providing training to 25 beekeepers from Muğla. We will equip the beekeepers who participate in these trainings together with their spouses with the knowledge they need to enable them to carry out productive production, update their existing knowledge and continue production under healthy and hygienic conditions."Advertisement
