AVOD Gıda Aims for Strong Entry into Vegan Market
AVOD Food, which produces and exports dried vegetables, today exports products manufactured in Turkey to 5 continents. The company, which has pioneered high-value-added agricultural trade in Turkey, is preparing for new investments. AVOD Food has been conducting R&D for 4 years and aims to make a strong entry into the USD 16 billion vegan market.
Turkey's agricultural sector has become a producer of high-value-added exports. Turkish companies, setting aside the 'farm to export' strategy, are adding value to the products they export, thus contributing to both Turkey's economy and the agricultural sector. Dried vegetables are at the forefront of high-value-added products in the agricultural sector. AVOD Food, operating in this field, accounts for 20 percent of Turkey's annual USD 150 million dried tomato exports on its own.EXPORTS TO 5 CONTINENTS
AVOD Food Board Chair Nazım Torbaoğlu, noting that producing and selling high-value-added products has become essential worldwide, said: "Turkey has become one of the world's most important markets with its USD 150 million dried tomato exports. Our company made a major contribution to this position. We achieved firsts in the sector. Today we export to European Union countries, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, Brazil and some Middle Eastern countries."OUR SECTOR IS A WORLD LEADER
Torbaoğlu, saying that Italy and Turkey are in leading positions in the production and trade of dried vegetables, stated: "We are ahead of Italy in terms of volume. We rank second in terms of turnover. I think we will surpass Italy soon. Turkey is unrivaled in the world in the number of food engineers, food engineering faculties, food technicians and agricultural engineers. Our country has made great progress in the past 10 years with the investments it has made, with educated entrepreneurs entering the sector and with knowledgeable people on this subject. Today we compete with countries such as Italy, China, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Chile, Uruguay and Brazil."ENTERED THE USD 16 BILLION VEGAN MARKET
Torbaoğlu, stating that they continue their R&D work without slowing down, said: "For approximately 4 years, we have been conducting R&D work on vegan products. Our products are ready to bring to market. Among these are vegan burgers, vegan wraps, and another vegetable-based product that looks like a meat equivalent beef fillet. Vegan products have a market worth 15-16 billion dollars worldwide, and it is estimated that by 2025 it will reach USD 25-26 billion. We took early steps to dominate this market."
