Aksuvital Exports with TÜBİTAK-Supported Projects
Yunus Aksu, Chairman of the Board at Aksuvital, stated that through TÜBİTAK and KOSGEB-supported projects, they have developed many innovative high-value-added products, and reported that the number of countries to which they export these products has reached 93.
In a statement from Aksuvital, Aksu noted that in recent years, excessive synthesis in the pharmaceutical industry and genetic deterioration in food products have led consumers to use natural products.
Aksu stated that the Covid-19 pandemic caused this interest to multiply, and emphasized that interest in dietary supplement products has been steadily increasing.
Aksu noted that Turkey has implemented very successful projects in this field, and that through the projects it has carried out, it has entered the ranks of the world's leading countries in production capability. He said, "While the dietary supplement market has reached USD 200 million domestically thanks to growing interest in recent years and our sector's efforts, this figure has approached USD 180 billion globally."
Pointing to consumer interest in food supplements, Aksu stated that Aksuvital, which has been operating for 34 years in the sector and has a production area of over 9,000 square meters, is a market leader with 400 product varieties, and was the first to introduce bee products, propolis, pollen and raw honey products to the Turkish market.
Aksu explained that they continue to lead in the sector by producing unique products in the fields of apitherapy, phytotherapy and aromatherapy, and reported that they bring their products in many categories such as honey, paste, ground products, fruit concentrate, dietary supplements, aroma, herbal tea, vinegar and aromatic water to customers.
- 'We developed high-value-added products with TÜBİTAK and KOSGEB'
Yunus Aksu, Chairman of the Board at Aksuvital, stated that they are clearly leading in this field in Turkey and noted: "We are the first company in Turkey to establish its own R&D in food supplement development and production. Although we lead clearly in production in our region, we continue our efforts to increase our capability in this area and produce more products. In this context, we have established important collaborations with TÜBİTAK and KOSGEB in recent years and developed high-value-added products. We are in close collaboration with universities. We are conducting joint R&D projects with Ege University, Istanbul University, Düzce University and Bezmialem Vakıf University. Thanks to our work, we export the products we manufacture to 93 countries across 5 continents." Aksu explained that in order to produce new products in the sector and increase exports, they need to increase capacity, and pointed out the difficulties involved. Emphasizing that the kilogram value per export of food supplements, which are among high-value-added products, equals that of technological products, Aksu said, "For this reason, the sector especially needs support in terms of exports. We will continue our collaborations with TÜBİTAK, KOSGEB and universities in this area and undertake new investments to increase the value we provide to our country and the number of countries to which we export." Aksu noted that both globally and in Turkey, fish oil and multivitamin supplements are the most consumed, and that domestic products are increasingly preferred in this area. Drawing attention to the constant increase in exports of fish oil and multivitamin products, Aksu provided the following information: "Last year we achieved USD 3.5 million in exports. Meanwhile, our contract manufacturing services to over 200 companies are extremely important in demonstrating Turkey's quality strength in this regard. Today, as Aksuvital Group, we have GMP-FOOD, GMP-COSMETIC and GMP-PHARMACEUTICAL production capabilities. It is a point of pride for us to see our products in markets, pharmacies in countries such as the USA, France, England, China, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and Russia." SourceAdvertisement
