Positive results have begun to emerge from activities conducted under the Turquality Project, which is being carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the Aegean Exporters Associations (EİB), with the partnership of 6 Unions within the EİB (Aegean Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association, Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters Association, Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association, Aegean Fresh Fruits, Vegetables and Products Exporters Association, Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association, Aegean Fishery and Animal Products Exporters Association), aimed at promoting Turkish food products in the US market.
Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator Chairman of the Aegean Exporters Associations, stated: "According to Trademap data, while the US's total imports from around the world in 2021 in the product groups promoted within the Project scope increased by 19% compared to 2020, imports from Turkey in the same product groups showed approximately 34% growth. When examining the data of the promoted sectors; fruit juices recorded 75% export increase, vegetable oils 70%, sea bass 60%, dried apricots 50%, olive oil 30%, and spice products 26% increase in exports. With the support of our Ministry of Commerce, we plan to continue our activities while raising our targets in the project." he said.
Two major logistics routes opened between Turkey and US: A significant advantage for our country in increasing exports to the US
Birol Celep, Deputy Coordinator Chairman of the Aegean Exporters Associations, stating that there is serious potential in the US, explained that the disruption issues experienced in logistics/container traffic following the pandemic have been substantially resolved, and that MSC and APAC have launched two shipping lines from our country to the US, saying: "Previously, containers were transferred and took 30-35 days to reach the US. Direct service was limited. With these two new major logistics routes opened to the US, containers can now arrive in 18 days. Both outbound and return will be faster. This represents a major advantage for our country in increasing our exports to the US, which carries significant potential in our food exports." he said.Advertisement
