15 Metropolitan Beekeepers Receive 'Royal Jelly Production Training'

Royal Jelly Production Training for 15 Metropolitan Beekeepers Istanbul Province Beekeepers Association, with training support from Balparmak Beekeeping Academy, provided "Royal Jelly Production Training" to 15 metropolitan beekeepers from various sectors. Within the framework of Balparmak Beekeeping Academy's "Sustainable Beekeeping, Value-Added and Efficient Bee Products Production Program," 15 prospective beekeepers who successfully completed training held in Istanbul between 27 June – 1 July received their certificates from Istanbul Province Beekeepers Association at Balparmak's Çekmeköy campus. Balparmak Beekeeping Academy, launched last year with the mission of bringing women and young people into the profession, continues the "Sustainable Beekeeping, Value-Added and Efficient Bee Products Production Program" in Istanbul this year. Within the scope of the vocational training program launched by the Provincial Directorate of National Education and in cooperation with Istanbul Province Beekeepers Association, Balparmak supports the Beekeeping Academy's training programs. Balparmak Beekeeping Academy, organizing a comprehensive training program on "royal jelly" production – a bee product with high economic value in addition to its functional benefits – completed a total of 5-day active training program under the instruction of Dr. Ali İhsan Öztürk, consisting of 3 days in the field and 2 days in the classroom. Field training conducted at Istanbul Aydos Apiary under the Beekeepers Association was supplemented with theoretical training provided at Balparmak Campus. Following the examination at the end of training, 15 prospective beekeepers qualified to receive a certificate approved by Istanbul Province Beekeepers Association.

Free training support for beekeepers

Balparmak Beekeeping Academy has been conducting training since 2005, particularly to bring young people and women into the sector and to support quality and efficient bee products production through modern beekeeping education. Balparmak Beekeeping Academy continues to convey important information to prospective beekeepers on various topics including bee breeds, colony management, beekeeping's place in the country's economy, honey harvesting and processing, apitherapy, pest and disease control, and seasonal maintenance work in beekeeping.   About the Beekeeping Academy: Balparmak Beekeeping Academy, established by Balparmak in 2018 in Ula district of Muğla with contributions from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), aims to contribute to the sustainability of the beekeeping profession, bring women and young people from rural development areas into the sector, and support increased production of value-added bee products such as royal jelly, pollen, and propolis in addition to honey. The Academy provides training on the most fundamental subjects that ensure quality production in the beekeeping profession and sustainability of the profession, including bee life and biology, colony care and management, bee diseases, queen bee production, bee products production, beekeeping equipment, regulations, and nectar-bearing plants.
