Cargill Turkey's 1000 Farmers 1000 Prosperity program, launched in 2019 with the goal of increasing farmer productivity and welfare, promoting digital agriculture applications and sustainable field methods, was once again recognized among the best.
1000 Farmers 1000 Prosperity won an award in the 'Communication and PR Campaign of the Year – Corporate Responsibility' category at the 19th International Business Awards (IBA), one of the most prestigious award organizations in the business world, which this year attracted over 3,700 candidates from approximately 70 countries.
The program, recognized internationally once again, earned its second Stevie Award, bringing the total number of awards to 35.
Cargill Food Middle East, Turkey, Africa and India Corporate Relations Director Arzu Örsel stated in remarks about the award that the international recognition of 1000 Farmers 1000 Prosperity's success encourages them to do more.
Örsel, noting that the program continues in 14 provinces of Turkey with over 4,000 corn, sunflower and canola producer farmers, continued as follows:
"Our farmers achieved yield increases of up to 23 percent last year despite difficult climate conditions and drought thanks to this program. Additionally, according to the Social Return on Investment (SROI) report, every TRY 1 invested in the program generated TRY 2.53 in social return in 2019, TRY 2.78 in 2020, and TRY 3.03 in 2021. In addition to being the first and only agriculture and food program in Turkey to perform SROI calculations, 1000 Farmers 1000 Prosperity has many other distinctions. We are the most comprehensive corporate social responsibility program in Turkey providing regular, continuous, 24/7 consulting services to the largest number of farmers. Our Progress Report published in 2021 also has the distinction of being the first to include input from over 30 stakeholders. In addition to being the first and only agriculture and food program conducting regular research on farmers, we launched a 'Life Cycle Assessment,' a first for Turkey, in cooperation with ITÜ NOVA. Beyond all this, we are among the most award-winning programs for farmer-related corporate social responsibility initiatives in the world. We are greatly pleased that our work has been recognized with such valuable international awards. These awards motivate us to do better." 1000 Farmers 1000 Prosperity is a corporate social responsibility program launched by Cargill in 2019 to increase the productivity and welfare of farmers in Turkey, promote sustainable agriculture practices, and support social and digital transformation in agriculture. In addition to being the program providing the longest-term and most comprehensive support to farmers in the country, it is the first corporate social responsibility program in which social impact (SROI) research has been conducted in food and agriculture. As of 2022, the program, which operates in 14 provinces and reaches over 4,000 corn, sunflower and canola producer farmers, provides farmers with field-specific consulting services, training, and educational opportunities on digital tools. 1000 Farmers 1000 Prosperity, which also published its Progress Report in 2021, has been awarded 32 national and international awards.Advertisement
