New Infectious Disease Awareness Training
Kimberly-Clark Professional Global Biorisk Advisory Council™ (GBAC) Scholarship Program has launched to provide new infectious disease awareness training for cleaning professionals.
Kimberly-Clark Professional™ announced it will finance new infectious disease awareness training for cleaning experts to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19 in workplaces. The program is in collaboration with ISSA, the global cleaning industry association, and the Global Biorisk Advisory Council™ (GBAC), a division of ISSA.
Kimberly-Clark Professional North America President Susan Gambardella said, "Cleaning professionals were our frontline heroes throughout the pandemic and we are committed to providing them with resources to ensure the businesses they support operate safely. As companies implement stricter hygiene and cleaning protocols to reduce infectious disease risk, we are pleased that our scholarship program will continue to equip small-scale and women-owned cleaning businesses with the knowledge they need."
The new 30-minute online course, "Infectious Disease Awareness in the Workplace," will increase participants' knowledge about infectious diseases and how they spread and make people sick. The course covers the importance of infectious disease prevention programs and how they help reduce or prevent infectious diseases such as COVID-19 in the workplace, as well as regulatory compliance.
GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger said, "Infectious disease knowledge continues to see demand during and after the pandemic. As a result, cleaning for health must remain a priority in the built environment. Regularly offering training courses shows employees that your business cares about career development and their well-being and enables them to better manage today's and tomorrow's biological risks."
The first 500 eligible cleaning professionals who enroll in the program will be able to complete the GBAC course free of charge. Construction service contractors classified as small businesses will receive priority placement in the program. The program will also allocate 50% of scholarships to women.

This year's training course offering is part of the Kimberly-Clark Professional scholarship program launched in 2021, which includes a commitment of USD 500,000 to finance training at small and women-owned businesses worldwide. The initiative has to date provided 6,335 scholarships in 84 countries and supported 3,900 organizations to prepare their employees with GBAC-led training that helps them provide a warm and hygienic workplace for their employees and customers.
