Şişecam Group Receives "COVID-19 Safe Production Certificate" from TSE

Since the start of the global pandemic, Şişecam has implemented top-level precautions and measures, becoming the first glass manufacturer to receive a "Covid-19 Safe Production Certificate" from the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE). Anadolu Cam Sanayii A.Ş. Mersin Factory, operating within the Glass Packaging Group under the Şişecam Group, underwent detailed inspection by TSE following approval of its application after meeting the conditions set out in the Covid-19 Hygiene, Infection Prevention and Control Guide published by TSE. As a result of inspections conducted under main headings within the scope of the guide including "Protection and Control Measures," "Implementation Measures," "Training," "Waste Management," "Social and Common Use Areas," "Cleaning," and "Occupational Health and Safety Equipment," Şişecam's glass packaging production facility in Mersin qualified to receive the Covid-19 Safe Production Certificate for implementing top-level precautions and measures. Following the Covid-19 Safe Production Certificate received by Şişecam's glass packaging production facility in Mersin, the company's other production facilities in Turkey in the flat glass, glass tableware, glass packaging and chemicals business lines will also receive the Covid-19 Safe Production Certificate upon completion of inspection and approval processes. Since the start of the pandemic, Şişecam has closely monitored guidance provided by all relevant official bodies and carefully implemented all specified measures. The company is rapidly implementing decisions taken by its "Emergency Coordination Committee," composed of executive board members chaired by the Group General Manager, and taking action within the framework of its prepared "Pandemic Action Plan." To date, Şişecam has implemented many important actions to protect employee health and ensure business continuity across all production facilities and its general headquarters. Beginning precautions before the first official Covid-19 case was announced in Turkey, the company quickly implemented protective measures against the Covid-19 virus through decisions including distribution of personal protective equipment, widespread use of disinfectants, and temperature measurement. Şişecam regularly carries out disinfection procedures against the virus in common areas heavily used by employees, and has taken necessary precautions in common use areas such as canteens and employee transportation to ensure social distancing in all workplaces.

In addition to work environments, Şişecam ensures periodic disinfection in employee transportation at each shift change and has successfully optimized the number of employees in workplaces in a manner that does not affect production activities while protecting employee health.

In line with decisions made by official authorities, Şişecam placed pregnant employees and those with chronic conditions on administrative leave from the outset of the process, and also developed work-from-home and rotating office work arrangements to protect employee health while ensuring business continuity, thereby creating a work arrangement with reduced employee density. The company has transferred recruitment processes and training to digital platforms and enables employees to conduct meetings and conferences through communication tools such as telephone, teleconference, and video conference. Şişecam uses many different communication channels including e-training, digital displays, and announcements to inform employees about pandemic developments, Covid-19 symptoms, and personal protective measures, sharing current information. The company demands the same careful implementation of precautions and measures from all business partners serving its facilities, and closely monitors suppliers' practices regarding social distancing, hygiene, and disinfection.
