Shell & Turcas inaugurates first solar-powered station investment in Ankara. Shell & Turcas, which leads Turkey's fuel sector through innovative investments, has transformed its Shell Küçükesat station in Ankara into a facility powered by solar energy. Shell & Turcas CEO Felix Faber stated: "The Shell Küçükesat station in Ankara, which we have converted to solar energy, has become our first station in Turkey to meet its electricity needs from solar power. Through this, our station will reduce its carbon emissions by approximately 30 percent. As Shell & Turcas, we will continue to diversify and expand our activities aimed at reducing our Net Carbon Footprint across Turkey." Emphasizing that, as part of Shell's global "a lower-carbon future" programme, they have begun transforming their stations in Turkey to reduce net carbon footprint, Faber said: "In line with the initiative we carry out globally, as Shell & Turcas we are implementing many projects in Turkey and working to reduce our carbon footprint. We are providing the logistics sector in Turkey with environmentally friendly LNG fuel, which reduces carbon emissions by up to 20 percent. Our aim is to introduce the logistics sector to the fuels of the future that are economically and environmentally responsible, and to establish a Shell LNG station network in Turkey. We are deploying our energy transition investments as rapidly as possible, taking into account the needs and expectations of our customers and leveraging Shell's expertise." As part of its net carbon footprint reduction efforts, Shell & Turcas has implemented numerous innovations at its stations. To date, by modifying the lighting systems at its stations in Turkey, the company has reduced total carbon emissions by 1,200 tonnes annually and achieved energy savings of 2,601.5 MWh. Shell & Turcas was recognized with the "Low Carbon Champion" award at the Istanbul Carbon Summit organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D) for this project.
