Şenmak R&D Center becomes operational

Şenmak Makine, a manufacturer of plasticizing equipment, has achieved a first in Turkey's plastic processing machinery sector. The "Şenmak Research and Development Centre," meeting the required qualifications and criteria under applicable regulations, has been registered by the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, becoming the first registered R&D Centre in the plastic machinery sector.

R&D activities will bring vision to Turkey's plastics sector

Şenmak General Manager Hüseyin Semerci, noting that research and development activities have been conducted based on needs for many years, stated: "The competitive conditions of today, our company's growth strategy, and the need for brand recognition in global markets have made clear the necessity for R&D to become a permanent part of our company culture. In our R&D activities, our priority is to prevent imports, increase exports, and of course produce higher value-added products. We aim to develop high value-added products as an alternative to traditional products operating in intense competition. We have over 20 projects in our project pipeline, and four of the initial projects we submitted to the Ministry have been approved. With the support of the Ministry, through our new R&D Centre we will introduce longer-lasting, higher-capacity, high plasticizing capability products to the plastics sector," he said. Semerci, noting that they take pride in being a supplier to Europe's renowned major machinery manufacturers through plasticizing equipment production, stated: "We focus on developing cost-reducing, productivity-enhancing, and quality-improving solutions not only for our own production but also for our customers to whom we supply products." Şenmak R&D Director Mehmet Satılmış, noting that 4 R&D projects are currently underway, said: "Through projects such as TÜBİTAK, TEYDEB, and KOBİGEL, we project approximately TRY 4 million in R&D expenditure over a two-year period. The KOBİGEL project is nearing completion. Final reports are being prepared for the TÜBİTAK project." Satılmış, noting that they support professional training to encourage R&D personnel, stated: "We provide support for relevant personnel to pursue postgraduate studies if their highest degree is a bachelor's degree, or doctoral studies if they hold a master's degree. Furthermore, the R&D Centre will also serve as an incubation hub, and personnel trained at the R&D Centre will be able to be positioned in different units of the company." The "Şenmak Research and Development Centre," located within the production facilities in Hadımköy, Istanbul, will conduct operations with a professional team of 21 people.
