Rotterdam Blending & Filling Facility Opens

A partnership between two Turkish and Dutch family companies in Maasvlakte, Rotterdam has resulted in the establishment of a facility that stands out for its original concept. This facility, established by Arkem Kimya and Neele-Vat Logistics, was designed as a storage and distribution centre for liquid and solid chemicals. The Rotterdam Blending & Filling facility, which has 52,000 square metres of open space and 22,000 square metres of covered area, is capable of simultaneously mixing, formulating, filling and storing various chemicals.

First Filling Facility in Maasvlakte for Small Packaging

What makes this storage and distribution centre distinctive is its ability to meet all types of customer requirements. The RBF, which has the capacity to handle large volumes of chemicals and is the first repackaging facility in the Maasvlakte region, features automatic filling stations capable of filling liquid chemicals arriving by road tankers or isotanks into IBCs, drums and other containers. RBF, which commenced operations with a capacity of 50,000 pallets for hazardous (IMO) liquid chemicals and non-hazardous chemicals, contains 12,500 square metres of general cargo storage and 6,000 square metres of storage area for hazardous chemicals. In addition to these, it has a 1,500 square metre filling, mixing and packaging area and is capable of serving multiple customers simultaneously. The facility has a total of 27 truck loading/unloading points, 9 of which are in the hazardous chemical storage and handling section, arranged in 3 compartments, and is equipped with carbon dioxide-based fire suppression systems. Equipped with the latest equipment, RBF has been designed to comply with SEVESO III, BRZO 2015 and PGS-15 standards. This location in Maasvlakte, with annual filling capacity of 190,000 metric tonnes and mixing capacity of 40,000 metric tonnes, will strengthen the service network of Netherlands-based Arkem Chemicals B.V. and serve as a milestone for Arkem's future strategy.

The complex established in Maasvlakte is located in an easily accessible position for road, rail and maritime transport and is positioned in a location neighbouring one of Europe's largest port operators. The RBF, which is located close to the A15 motorway, is also in close proximity to the Plaza truck park, Maasvlakte distribution park and rail loading line.
