Nouryon Takes New Step in Sumitomo Chemical Partnership

Nouryon is strengthening its partnership with Sumitomo Chemical through a new facility that Sumitomo is constructing in Oita, Japan. The new plant will supply Nouryon with a critical raw material used for Perkadox 14, an organic peroxide. Perkadox 14 is an important component in the manufacture of numerous elastomeric products, including shoe soles, yoga mats and other rubber goods. Johan Landfors, President of Nouryon Technology Solutions, said: "Asia is an important growth market for Nouryon. We continue to invest in the region to support rising customer demand. This agreement is an excellent example of partnering with a supplier to support our expansion strategy in attractive growth markets." Nouryon produces Perkadox 14 in Mons, Belgium and Ningbo, China, and has completed projects aimed at increasing production capacity at both locations.
