Eight Turkish companies operating in the mineral oils sector participated in a trade mission organized between 21-25 October 2019 in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan. On the second day of the event held in Nur-Sultan between 21-25 October 2019, Turkey's Ambassador to Nur-Sultan Nevzat Uyanık, who received the Turkish companies at his office, shared current developments regarding Kazakhstan and provided information on the commercial issues faced by the firms in the region. Nur-Sultan Trade Counsellor Selçuk Oktay explained to the delegation what should be considered in trade with the region. As part of the event, a visit was also made to the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan (ATAMEKEN). The National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan shared information on possible business cooperation opportunities in Kazakhstan and how market-related problems could be solved. Within the framework of the Kazakhstan Sectoral Trade Mission, approximately 300 bilateral business meetings were held between Turkish and Kazakh companies on 24 October 2019. At the event, which was attended by 42 Kazakh companies, companies and banks engaged in transportation to the region also provided assessments on transportation, which is the region's most pressing issue. İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister stated: "As İKMİB, we organized our first sectoral trade mission for the mineral oils sector this year. At the same time, we also conducted another event in parallel with the Sectoral Trade Mission for the mineral oils sector. This event also has the distinction of being the first TTG project implemented within our Association. We place importance on trade missions organized to enable our member companies to discover new potential markets and establish new business connections, as well as our other organizations such as fair national participation, TTG Projects and UR-GE projects. Looking at trade data, Turkey's total exports to Kazakhstan in the first nine months of 2019 amounted to USD 591 million. In the mineral oils sector, we achieved exports of approximately USD 3.5 million to Kazakhstan in the first nine months of this year. We aim to increase this figure further. In parallel with the Trade Mission we organized between 21-25 October, we also held our TTG Mineral Oils Promotion Project event. We aim to present our mineral oils sector in the best way and contribute to both our sector's exports and our country's economy."
