Lanxess Completes Sale of Chrome Chemicals Business Unit

Lanxess has completed the sale of its chromium chemicals business unit. The company finalized the transaction with Brother Enterprises, a Chinese leather chemicals manufacturer. Lanxess operates chromium chemicals production at two facilities in South Africa: Newcastle and Merebank. The Newcastle plant produces sodium dichromate. Merebank manufactures chromium tanning salts from sodium dichromate. The salts produced at the facility are used in chromium tanning processes for leather. Under the agreement, Brother Enterprises acquired Lanxess's Newcastle facility along with 220 employees.
