Lanxess Invests EUR 100 Million, Mainly in German Facilities

Advanced Industrial Intermediates business unit expands production capacity for intermediates

Specialty chemicals company Lanxess continues to target growth. Over the next three years, the company's Advanced Industrial Intermediates business unit plans to invest approximately EUR 100 million to expand production facilities for chemical intermediates. Each of the facilities in Leverkusen and Krefeld-Uerdingen, located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, is planned to receive approximately EUR 40 million in investment. The remainder of the budget will be used for expansion of facilities in Brunsbüttel (state of Schleswig-Holstein) and Antwerp (Belgium). The expansion project is planned to be completed by 2020. At the Krefeld-Uerdingen facility, production facilities for trimethylolpropane, hexanediol and menthol are planned to be expanded to meet globally increasing demand. Trimethylolpropane and hexanediol are important for products in the automotive, furniture and construction sectors, for example.
