Tissue Paper Factory to Be Built in Erzurum A tissue paper factory to be constructed on 130 hectares in Erzurum 2nd Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ) with a USD 150 million investment is expected to create 2,500 jobs within three years. According to an announcement from Erzurum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ETSO), Orhan Öğücü, a businessman investing in the paper, textile and energy sectors in the city, met with ETSO President Saim Özakalın.  

Investment in Erzurum Important for the Region

In a statement, Öğücü said that the company, of which he is Chairman of the Board, ranks in the top 200 of Istanbul Chamber of Industry's list of the 500 largest industrial enterprises, and that the investment to be made in Erzurum is important for the region. Noting that they export tissue paper rolls to more than 80 countries worldwide, Öğücü stated, "With this investment, Erzurum will have one of the facilities incorporating the best technology of today. We aim to generate approximately USD 100 million in annual exports from the facility to be built here." Öğücü, noting that as a company they aim to increase their annual production capacity from 270,000 tons to 340,000 tons thanks to the new factory to be built in Erzurum 2nd OIZ, said: "Our facility will be one of the largest industrial investments the private sector will make in the East Anatolia and East Black Sea regions, and will also be Erzurum's first tissue paper factory. Our company, distinguished by its environmentally conscious approach, aims to meet consumption through renewable energy sources with solar panels to be installed at the facility. The investment, for which the project is prepared and groundbreaking is planned for June with construction to commence, will total USD 150 million. Initially, 500 people will be employed at the facility, with a target of reaching 2,500 within three years." Özakalın expressed his satisfaction with the project being undertaken in the city, noting that investor demands in OIZ 2, Phase 3 are increasing with each passing day. Source
