Egesil Kimya and Evonik Partnership Launches Silica Production Facility
Egesil Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. has commissioned a new precipitated silica production facility in Adapazarı. The commissioning of the new production facility will increase total annual production volume by 40,000 metric tons and create 40 additional jobs.
Investment in the facility's construction amounts to the low double-digit million euro range. Egesil is a joint venture between Evonik (51%) and Ege Kimya (49%) in precipitated silica production.
The new production facility was built to address growing demand for silica use in the production of energy-efficient and abrasion-resistant automotive tires. The automotive sector requires high-quality, specialty silicas for the production of so-called "green" tires.
The trend toward increased silica consumption in large-size tire use in the industry is driving demand. Thanks to these properties, green tires deliver significant energy savings compared to conventional vehicle tires.
In addition, the Adapazarı facility will also meet growing demand for precipitated silica.
With the new venture in Adapazarı, Egesil will serve its customers in Turkey, Eastern Europe and the Middle East at a higher service level, leveraging its proximity to silica consumers in these regions and offering faster delivery times.
