BASF Strengthens Global Production Footprint for Enzymes
BASF has reached an agreement with Sandoz GmbH, a subsidiary of Novartis, to invest in the Kundl / Schaftenau Campus in Austria. The agreement enables BASF to further expand its manufacturing footprint for enzymes and biotechnology products. Both parties agreed not to disclose the financial details of the agreement.
Dr. Michael De Marco, Vice President of Global Operations Management Enzymes at BASF, stated: "This investment is a clear sign of our commitment to enzymes and the biotechnology industry. BASF will strengthen its market position at the Kundl / Schaftenau Campus, which has 75 years of biotechnology application experience and associated infrastructure including deep expertise."
Dr. Soeren Hildebrandt, Senior Vice President of Home Care, I&I and Industrial Formulators Europe, said: "The agreement allows us to expand our manufacturing footprint for detergent enzymes and further develop our product portfolio and leading market position in the Home Care industry. With this step, we are supporting our customers to meet key market needs, such as cleaning products with superior sustainability profiles and new product formats based on innovative BASF enzyme technology."
