Atakum Vocational School Produces Cleaning and Hygiene Products The Chemistry Technology Department at Samsun Atakum Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School generated approximately TRY 5 million in revenue last year from cleaning and hygiene products manufactured under the "Ata Kimya" brand. The cleaning products produced at this "factory-like school," where both students and graduates can find employment opportunities, are sold to hospitals, universities, military units and dormitories across the country. School Principal Melek Çelebi emphasized that the school ranks among 50 research and development-focused vocational schools in Turkey and is the only such school in the Black Sea region. Noting that students receive education in their field while contributing to production, Çelebi said: "We have made considerable progress in disinfectants and other cleaning products. We are proud to serve our country with 50 different product varieties. During the pandemic period, we became even more active and relevant thanks to the value our President and Ministry have given to vocational schools." Pointing out that their alcohol-based hand disinfectants comply with the Biocidal Products Regulation, Çelebi stated: "Obtaining approval according to this regulation is a challenging process. We are grateful to have overcome that hurdle. Among vocational schools, we are the only school producing alcohol-based hand disinfectant with a registered brand." Çelebi noted that they achieved TRY 5 million in revenue in 2020, adding: "Our goal is not revenue maximization. Here we aim for our students to first become good people and to be well-equipped in their field. We want to contribute to our students' education and training, and graduate them as technicians equipped for the sector in the chemistry laboratory field." Principal Çelebi added that cleaning and hygiene products manufactured under the "Ata Kimya" brand at the Chemistry Technology Department are sold to various provinces across the country, particularly in the Black Sea region. Salih Yasin Durmuş, a 10th grade student in the Chemistry Technology Department at Atakum Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, noted that he is studying in an excellent department and that they increase product quality by conducting experiments in applied courses.
