Polisan Holding Continues to Protect 93,500 Trees Planted in Dilovası 35 Years Ago

Polisan Holding has maintained a 2,000-hectare Special Afforestation Area in Dilovası, which it placed under protection in the early 1990s, and continues maintenance work on the 93,500 trees within it. For 35 years, the Holding has stewarded this project, which ranks among the first private-sector nature conservation initiatives, and continues to uphold the environmental vision of its late founder Necmettin Bitlis.

In line with its sustainability goals, Polisan Holding integrates environmental and social responsibility into its operational processes. For the Special Afforestation Area in Dilovası, the Holding has worked regularly for 35 years with the Agricultural and Forestry Directorate to carry out landscaping, cleaning and maintenance work. To prevent unauthorized tree felling, the Holding has enclosed the forest area with wire mesh and protective walls, and has supported forest growth by planting new saplings throughout the period.

When late Necmettin Bitlis could not remain indifferent to tree felling in Dilovası in the 1990s, he initiated this voluntary effort in cooperation with the Forest Ministry. Under the "protect-use" model, Polisan Holding assumed responsibility for maintaining the 2,000-hectare forested area and thus took on the role of pioneering nature conservation through the private sector.
