New Surface Inspection System from ZEISS
New Surface Inspection System from ZEISS
ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions, an international technology company active in optical and optoelectronic sectors, has introduced ABIS, a new generation surface inspection system.
The new sensor ZEISS ABIS III enables reliable and early inspection of all component surfaces within cycle time by objectively evaluating and classifying any surface defects, making the fully automated system an ideal quality control tool for modern press shops and future-oriented body shops.
The ZEISS ABIS III sensor rapidly and reliably detects all relevant surface defects such as protrusions, dents, waviness, bulges, cracks and scratches, pressure marks, and weld and adhesive residues. It can inspect both moving and stationary parts inline or offline within cycle time at the highest precision.
An intelligent combination of projector, cameras, patented lighting, and the new ZEISS ABIS V20 software provides superior balance between maximum inspection speed, robustness, reliability, and usability.
When this sensor is used, manual visual inspections or conventional methods such as surface finishing with grinding stones are no longer necessary. There are no more rework requests or costly sorting operations. In quality assurance, the new surface inspection system continuously provides all the baseline data needed for targeted rework, rapid surface analysis, and process optimization.
The ZEISS ABIS III surface inspection system is equipped with the new patented MCL module: Multi-Color-Light technology detects even the smallest defect types at detection speeds reaching 20 Hz, and sensor scan evaluation requires less than 0.5 seconds per scan. ZEISS ABIS V20 software processes and visualizes potential component defects in pressed parts or complete white bodies in real time.
The new software version evaluates surface defects in accordance with individual corporate standards and digitally records inspection results in a database. This makes quality certification ready for issuance and delivery to the customer when required. Furthermore, when ZEISS ABIS III is used, quality control loops between the press shop and body shop are closed.
