Bursa Leg of Surface Academy Events Held

Surface Academy Events' Bursa Session Held The Bursa leg of the Surface Academy Events, organized by the Turkish Surface Treatment Association in different cities and bringing together sector managers and professionals, was held on 15 June with the support of Borçelik Technical Academy. The event provided opportunities for enlightening presentations and knowledge exchange on the importance of surface treatment in corrosion protection. The second Surface Academy Events organized by the Turkish Surface Treatment Association (TÜYİDER) was held in Bursa in cooperation with Borçelik Technical Academy. The seminar, which addressed a highly important and critical agenda for all metal manufacturers—corrosion—and focused on its techno-economic effects, sought solutions to the sector's needs in this area, and examined the role of surface treatment in corrosion and corrosion protection, was held on 15 June at the Kalder Bursa branch. The seminar evaluated the environmental and techno-economic effects of corrosion in production and products, and addressed new methods in surface treatment and coating technologies in line with expectations. Opening remarks were delivered by TÜYİDER Board Chairman İbrahim Doğangün and Borçelik Research and Development, Digital Transformation, Information Technologies and Management Systems Executive Board Member Baran Burat. The seminar, spanning five sessions moderated by BDK Member Associate Professor Ekrem Altuncu, also hosted professors Prof. Dr. Ali Fuat Çakır and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ürgen, academics who have dedicated many years to the sector, particularly on corrosion issues. Çakır and Ürgen, delivering presentations titled "Techno-Economic Importance of Corrosion in Enterprises" and "Corrosion Protection Methods and Surface Treatment Solutions" respectively, shared their long-standing experience with participants through examples. Borçelik Research and Development Center Director Celal Seyalıoğlu shared real cases encountered at Borçelik and the applications developed in response to them in his presentation. Hillebrand Chemicals Turkey General Manager İzzet Aydın addressed galvanic zinc coating types and the importance of coating selection in his remarks, while Metaltek Laboratories Director Tuncay Katırcı included corrosion testing and standards in his presentation.
