Vesmody Series The Vesmody thickener group is designed as an "associative thickener" that creates and stabilizes viscosity by forming a network between binder molecules and pigment particles for acrylic and polyurethane systems. The Vesmody thickener series can be used alone or in combination with other Vesmody series thickeners and also with other thickener technologies. Use of the Vesmody series is recommended in the following systems: water-based interior and exterior facade paints, latex paints, anti-corrosion paints, emulsion plasters, adhesives and caulking compounds. Synthetic acrylic-based polymers have been appropriately grouped into three general classes: hydrophobically alkali-swellable (or soluble) emulsions (ASE group), modified alkali-swellable emulsions (HASE group), and hydrophobically modified ethoxylated urethane resins (HEUR group). The ASE group comprises modifications of the ASE group following the addition of hydrophobic functional groups. These are generally known as associative thickeners. In its simplest form, an associative thickener is a water-soluble polymer containing relatively few hydrophobic groups. The HEUR group also falls into the category of associative thickeners. However, unlike the HASE group, the HEUR group is nonionic and does not depend on alkalinity for activation of the thickening mechanism. For Vesmody A Series: Acrylic HASE, referred to as hydrophobically modified acrylic thickener, modified with anionic acrylic polymer having low, medium-low and medium viscosity values that is water-soluble and hydrophobically or alkali-modified, used in water-based systems. HASE hydrophobically modified stands for "Alkali Swellable Emulsion" (ASE&HASE). For Vesmody U Series: Polyether polyurethane (HEUR) thickener that is hydrophobically modified, water-soluble, with low, medium and high viscosity values, containing no VOC/SVOC, with and without nonionic solvent, used in water-based systems. In chemical terms: Hydrophobically modified urethane ethoxylate (HEUR) associative thickeners. Properties: 1. Low odor content. 2. Provides viscosity balancing with good scrub resistance and water resistance. 3. Develops excellent anti-spattering and sag resistance. 4. Provides good thermal stability and storage stability. 5.
