Solvay Launches New Product

Solvay launches new reactive water-based emulsifier.

Solvay has developed Reactsurf 0092, an alkylphenol ethoxylate-free (APE) and non-ionic reactive water-based emulsifier for solid epoxy resins. This new reactive water-based emulsifier can primarily be used in industrial coatings, paints or adhesives. Solvay's unique and versatile Reactsurf 0092 technology enables the formulation of high-performance water-based epoxy coatings. These water-based epoxy coatings can match or exceed solvent-based (SB) coatings, yet contain significantly lower levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Solvay continuously develops and supplies products to help its customers reach cleaner, healthier paint and coating formulations, overcome sustainable development challenges faced, and meet regulatory requirements. The new, cost-effective, environment and process-friendly emulsifier offers ease of use by combining both characteristic external and internal emulsification stages without requiring additional chemical modification.

Demonstrates Excellent Application Performance

Dr. Rong Er Lin, Director of Research and Innovation, Novecare Coatings Asia-Pacific at Solvay, said: "Solvay's Reactsurf 0092 emulsifier contains a highly reactive functional cross-linking group, achieving perfect balance and synergy between emulsification and epoxidation to obtain a highly reactive emulsifier." Lin also noted that this new emulsifier provides excellent application performance and emulsion stability in paints and coatings.
