Sika Strengthens Its Presence in Canada
Sika Strengthens Position in Canada
Sika has acquired Sable Marco Inc., a manufacturer of cement-based products and mortars in Canada. The complementary acquisition, headquartered in Pont Rouge near Quebec City, opens new opportunities for Sika in eastern Canada and clearly improves Sika's access to retail distribution channels. The acquired business generates annual sales of CHF 20 million.
Sable Marco has established a strong presence in the distribution channel, with excellent relationships among major national and regional building materials stores and DIY retail chains. The customer base is highly complementary to Sika, and this acquisition will enable the development of relationships with new high-potential customers.
Sable Marco operates a manufacturing facility that provides logistical and strategic benefits for Sika Canada in the Quebec City region. This location will enable Sika to expand its reach and better serve customers in eastern Canada. Sable Marco's product range includes cement-based products, mortars, polymeric sand and other bagged materials. Synergies will be created by exploring cross-selling potential through additional channels for Sika's Target Markets in Waterproofing and Building Finishing, expanded geographic reach and opportunities opening up in the growing polymeric sand category.
Christoph Ganz, Sika Americas Regional Manager, said: "With the acquisition of Sable Marco, Sika Canada will expand its penetration with big box retailers, home centers and builder merchants, which will increase sales through the distribution channel in line with our strategic plan. We warmly welcome Sable Marco employees to the Sika family and look forward to developing our business together successfully in the Canadian market."
