PPG's SICO Paint Brand Unveils 2023's Color of the Year
PPG's SICO Paint Brand Unveils 2023 Colour of the Year: Melt Water
A bold, calming blue-green hue represents consumers' desire for stability in an uncertain world.
As the outside world grapples with mounting uncertainty, people are seeking greater peace and stability in their homes. This trend prompted PPG's SICO™ paint brand to select Melt Water (6156-63), a grounded, revitalizing sea blue that combines the restorative powers of water and nature with balance and tranquility, as the 2023 Colour of the Year.
Melt Water is a solid and refined bluish-greenish tone that interweaves deep blue with calming green to create a captivating colour symbolizing deep water. Emerald undertones evoke a sense of balance, while the adaptable blue-stoned tone creates a soothing, serene atmosphere in spaces. Together, these two undertones create an ultra-rich, trendy colour that harmonizes with contemporary designs or adds an elegant colour flow to traditional décor.
Martin Fuchs, Senior Marketing Manager at PPG, stated: "On the other side of the pandemic, people are seeking a mental reset and want to fill their homes with revitalizing colours that help provide support and refuge in today's unpredictable world. Melt Water achieves exactly that with its energizing yet grounded character. As a symbol of a newly discovered aesthetic, this colour performs exceptionally well in all spaces, including both interior and exterior environments."
The Sico paint brand offers the following tips for incorporating the trendy sea blue into your home:
Paint all four walls in Melt Water paired with deeper-toned woods and dirty white accents. For a more luxurious feel, Melt Water can be striking when paired with gold accents and bright white trim. Enjoy the understated elegance of a sea blue accent wall or express yourself by incorporating Melt Water into kitchen cabinets. Even the most modest spaces can benefit from a turquoise treatment. If your space is short on square footage but big on style, use this rich tone as a bold contrast against a neutral palette to make a small room feel luxurious. As an exterior, use a blue-green tone to emphasize your home's personality and add curb appeal, particularly at the front door. Other popular 2023 colours launched by the Sico brand include equally bold and soothing dark greenish-grey, forest green, soft terracotta and copper-brown tones. The brand's Ancient Lava (6208-73), Boreal Forest (6167-83), Brown Tobacco (6189-52) and Faux Leather (6068-83) varieties all coordinate beautifully with Melt Water. All of Sico's 2023 colours are single-coat paint colours found in the recently launched SICO PRESTIGE™ paint, which Fuchs describes as one of the brand's best paints to date. A breakthrough, ultra-flexible interior paint plus primer designed to maximize colour and quality while minimizing the effort required to apply and maintain the paint. The palette is also available in the single-coat protective Sico Super Premium Exterior paint.
