PPG Expands Powder Coatings Plant PPG announced the completion of a USD 15 million investment to develop its powder coatings production facility in Brazil. The facility was expanded by 20,000 square feet to accommodate two state-of-the-art lines that will be used in metallic powder production and automatic packaging. PPG's expansion was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting event attended by senior executives of the company, factory employees, government officials and community members. PPG Vice President of Global Industrial Coatings Kevin Braun said, "An expansion of this magnitude requires an enormous amount of time, effort and dedication from leaders, employees and the community. I want to thank our excellent PPG team and the Brazil community for making this expansion possible."

The facility serves customers in the appliances and general industrial manufacturing sectors. The improvements will further enhance PPG's ability to serve powder customers through greater product and process quality control, while reducing color matching and production preparation times. Marizeth Carvalho, Regional General Manager for PPG's Latin America Southern Region and Global Business Director responsible for Powder Coatings, said, "Powder coatings is the fastest-growing coating technology in the world and we are committed to meeting this growing demand through research and development, acquisitions and investments to expand our capabilities and global footprint. The key factor driving rapid adoption of powder coatings is increased interest in advantageous solutions that are more sustainable." Powder coatings are typically formulated without solvents that emit volatile organic compounds (VOC), can be recovered and reused during the application process. PPG and its customers aim to meet sustainability targets by focusing on powder coatings. As part of the facility expansion project in Brazil, PPG is strategically expanding powder coatings capacity and increasing production to keep pace with rising customer demand. With this expansion, PPG plans to add up to 12 new jobs to the facility. Since 2019, PPG has focused on growing powder coatings capacity and capabilities, completing four strategic acquisitions and expanding production and service capabilities at seven powder plants worldwide.
