PPG Launches Phenguard 985 Coating
PPG announced the launch of PPG Phenguard 985 phenolic epoxy tank coating for the maritime and tank storage sectors. The first-class tank primer is designed to provide exceptional chemical resistance against a wide variety of aggressive chemicals and higher temperature resistance for chemicals containing fatty acids.
Bart Martens, Global Product Manager for Chemical Protection, Protective and Marine Coatings at PPG, provided comments on the matter. Martens stated: "PPG Phenguard 985 tank primer, the latest addition to our PPG Phenguard series, features a patent-pending formulation that can be applied in two or three coats instead of the traditional three coats without compromising chemical resistance."
Exceptional Chemical Resistance Against Thousands of Chemicals
PPG Phenguard 985 tank coating offers exceptional chemical resistance against thousands of chemicals. It provides resistance against more than 300 different chemicals composed of or containing fatty acids. These highly aggressive chemicals can cause problems for operators as they have narrow temperature ranges required for storage and can be difficult to manage. As a result, temperature excursions pose a regular risk and can compromise the effectiveness of tank coating, leading to additional costs. To address this, PPG Phenguard 985 tank coating has been specifically designed to accommodate an extended temperature range.Advertisement
