PPG Opens Color Development Center in Italy

PPG inaugurates a color development center at its facility in Quattordio, Italy to enhance automotive color development and application efficiency. A USD 2.6 million investment (equivalent to EUR 2.3 million) integrates color development and application into a unified procedure, minimizing the time required to bring new colors to market, optimizing costs and increasing color effectiveness. The facility is equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) tools for use in color development and quality assessment procedures. These include a statistical and machine learning tool that can reduce color adjustment stages, lowering costs and overall cycle time during the development of base coats and colored products. Federico Menta, Global Director of PPG Automotive Coatings Decorative Operations, stated: "With this new facility, PPG will take color development work to the next level by using digital tools to streamline and modernize processes.
