PPG Expands Powder Coating Production Capacity in Brazil

PPG announced that it has made a USD 2.7 million investment to expand powder coating production capacity at its facility in Sumaré, in São Paulo state, Brazil. The project will increase the facility's powder coating production capacity by approximately 40% beginning in the third quarter of 2022.

The plant expansion will introduce new equipment to further advance PPG's supply of powder coatings, a highly sustainable product with advanced durability, transfer efficiency and the ability to be recovered or reused during application. The investment aligns with PPG's targets to derive 40% of sales from sustainably advantaged products by 2025 and to increase production capacity to meet rising customer demand in Brazil and other South American countries.

The Sumaré facility serves the appliances, agriculture, transportation and general industrial sectors, including steel furniture, storage structures, gymnasium equipment, electrical panels and power transformers.

Powder coatings do not release solvents due to their low-VOC formulation and are completely reusable, meaning coating that does not adhere to a substrate during application returns to the coating system to reduce waste.
