PPG Expands Amerlock Series of Epoxy Protective Coatings

PPG introduces PPG Amerlock 600 multipurpose epoxy coating for applicators seeking maximum versatility in the shop or field. The high-build, polyamide-cured coating combines a wide application thickness range with fast cure times and a one-year recoat window. PPG Vice President of Protective and Marine Coatings for the U.S. and Canada Juanjo Ardid commented on the new coating series. Juanjo Ardid stated: "The PPG Amerlock coating family is recognized for excellent corrosion protection in challenging environments" and "PPG Amerlock 600 coating builds on this high performance by providing maximum flexibility in application surfaces and recoat windows." PPG's Amerlock 600 can work on many surfaces including carbon steel, stainless steel, and galvanized surfaces. With the ability to work on diverse surfaces, Amerlock 600 can also be used on marginally prepared surfaces. This versatility of the coating can help manufacturing facilities reduce coating inventory and complexity. Touch-ups in Place Can Be Performed Confidently on Epoxy Protective Coatings The coating's one-year recoat window makes it adaptable to an applicator's schedule. Manufacturing facilities shipping to job sites where the product may sit idle before installation can confidently perform in-place touch-ups with confidence in long-term coating performance. PPG Amerlock 600 coating cures within 1.5 hours after application and can be recoated four hours later in typical shop working environments for high productivity and minimal downtime during maintenance. It is also low VOC (240 g/L). PPG Amerlock 600 coating meets ISO 12944 standard for protective paint systems and provides protection against corrosion up to C5 environments.
