PPG to Expand Aerospace Products Manufacturing in the US
PPG to Increase Aerospace Products Manufacturing in the U.S.
PPG announced it will increase production output to meet rising demand for commercial aerospace and space aftermarket products. The company will increase employment levels by up to 20% at its Huntsville, Ala. and Sylmar, California manufacturing facilities to meet strong demand from new and existing customers.
Dan Korte, Vice President of PPG Aerospace global operations, said, "We have benefited from year-over-year improvements in the market. As passengers continue to return to the skies, we are focused on meeting our customers' immediate and long-term needs."
PPG is also investing in increased factory automation to improve delivery times for aerospace and space coatings and sealant materials. For example, the company's Shildom, United Kingdom aerospace facility is bringing an automatic SEMKIT® filling machine into operation to increase production of these ready-to-use cartridge-based systems that store, mix and facilitate the application of aerospace sealant materials.
Korte said, "With increased staffing at our major manufacturing facilities in the U.S., we can boost supply across our global network of 16 aerospace application support centers (ASC). By further automating our processes at these ASCs, we can rapidly deliver products directly to our local customers and do our part to support continued growth in the aerospace industry."
PPG recently announced it will invest USD 17 million to build an ASC in Toulouse, France. Operations are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023.
