Polisan Holding Opens Second Green Factory
Polisan Holding has built its new chemical plant to green building standards, following its paint factory. Polisan Kansai Boya, Turkey's first paint factory with LEED Gold Certification, was established with an investment budget of EUR 55 million, while the new chemical plant, commissioned in November, cost EUR 5 million.
The total investment budget for both factories was announced as EUR 60 million. Mehmet Hacıkamiloğlu, CEO of Polisan Holding, stated: "We are proud to conduct our chemical production in a facility built according to green factory standards, following our paint production. We attach importance to increasing the number of environmentally responsible production facilities in the industry, and we hope to see more such factories in the future."
Mehmet Hacıkamiloğlu noted that they continue their environmentally conscious approach in the products they develop. "Twenty-seven of our products in the concrete, cement and underground chemicals categories hold Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certificates.
In fact, at the 'Green Buildings and Cities Summit', SÜRATAM/EPD Turkey recognized us with an award for our contributions as a material manufacturer to the sustainability of green buildings. Our goal is to expand our level of service in this area," he said.
Hacıkamiloğlu also reminded that they are among the strong players in the decorative paints market and noted that 90% of the paints in their product portfolio have high environmental performance.

Mehmet Hacıkamiloğlu, CEO of Polisan Holding, provided the following comments on green factory investments:
"Our two factories were designed in alignment with the twin transformations that will shape the world of the future. This Europe-centered new economic system has digital transformation on one side and green transformation on the other. As a holding company, we have set targets for both green transformation and digital transformation that we aim to achieve by 2025. Green factory investments were part of these targets, and we are proud to have successfully completed them." He noted that 40% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions globally originate from buildings. Mehmet Hacıkamiloğlu said that Polisan Kimya's new production building achieved energy savings of up to 26% compared to the baseline facility, and continued: "In green buildings, the selection of materials with low environmental impact and the establishment of appropriate environmental conditions not only provide healthy and comfortable indoor environments but also increased the productivity of our employees. These buildings, which use responsibly sourced local materials with high recycled content and high energy efficiency, present important opportunities in the transition from a linear economy to a circular economy."They Received a Plaque for Supporting Green Buildings with Their Products
Mehmet Hacıkamiloğlu stated that while they have created production facilities supporting the environment, they also develop their products with the same care: "Twenty-seven of our cement, concrete and underground chemicals products hold Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certificates valid worldwide. Our certificates are registered by the International EPD System and EPD Turkey and were published recently. In November, at the 'Green Buildings and Cities' summit held by ÇEDBİK, SÜRATAM/EPD Turkey presented Polisan Yapıkim with a plaque for its contributions as a material manufacturer to the sustainability of green buildings. These products with Type 3 environmental impacts account for 30% of our total revenue in building chemicals and 26% of our total sales. As awareness increases in this area, we believe that the use of environment-supporting products in buildings will increase." Hacıkamiloğlu added that as one of the strong players in the decorative paints market, environmentally high-performing paints constitute 90% of their product portfolio.Advertisement
