Pantone Adds 294 New Colors
Pantone LLC today launched a globally expanded color range to be added to the Pantone Matching System™ (PMS). With the addition of 294 trend colors, the total color count reaches 2,100, and through the newly developed "Pantone fashion, home and interiors system (FHI)" with cross-matching capabilities, it offers greater design flexibility throughout production and supply chains.
The first addition to the Pantone Matching System (PMS) since 2016, these colors will provide unique benefits to graphic designers, product designers, brands, print and packaging firms, and ink manufacturers for all their creative and professional needs, and through seamless transitions between physical and digital media, will bring the quality of created work to a level of excellence.
Compatibility Between Physical and Digital Catalogs
This addition combines the reliability and consistency of physical Pantone color swatches with a comprehensive, easily cross-matchable digital Pantone color archive; allowing users to apply colors with confidence, creating a true cross-platform design opportunity from inspiration to production. Key features brought by the new colors added to PMS:- Trend colors with tighter production links: The addition of core colors (neutral tones, bronzes, grays, blues and blacks) increases the success of color retention throughout the design process while maintaining proximity to future color trends.
- Color accuracy down to the DNA: The latest Pantone color swatches are the most reliable and consistent printed colors because they combine all the primary standard digital data with new and updated cross-matched data to achieve the closest parity between physical and digital formats.
- Digital access to all Pantone colors at any time: Designers can access all PMS colors simultaneously, including the newly added 294 PMS and FHI colors, through Adobe Exchange for Creative Cloud Marketplace and Pantone Extension for Adobe Creative Cloud.
The new Pantone Extension for Adobe Creative Cloud allows users to search across PMS and FHI color systems to convert CMYK, RGB and Hex values to Pantone colors.
Additionally, users can create color palettes composed of Pantone colors that can be saved and stored; enabling creative teams to share and reuse these color palettes while using the plugin within Adobe Creative Cloud. Adobe Senior Director of Partner Ecosystem, Vijay Vachani, stated: "By integrating the complete Pantone experience and making the graphics archive containing 294 new colors accessible from Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, Pantone Extension for Adobe Creative Cloud brings designers a simple, intuitive and collaborative workflow management. As Adobe and Pantone, we are excited to pursue new opportunities that will improve the daily lives of our mutual customers." Pantone Vice President and General Manager Adrian Fernandez commented on the new developments: "We have always positioned ourselves to adapt to the changing market and the evolving needs of our creative customers. As a result, we are excited to have created a more efficient workflow by introducing new colors for graphic arts and providing more advanced cross-matching between Pantone's PMS and FHI color systems. Adding the launch of Pantone Extension for Adobe Creative Cloud to this mix will enhance the ability to define, communicate and verify colors in the Pantone universe, both physically and digitally." Ayla Çuhadaroğlu, General Manager representing Odak Kimya, which is X-Rite/Pantone's sole distribution partner in Turkey and authorized X-Rite service center across all sectors and a world leader in color management, measurement and communication technologies, shared her views, noting that Pantone is at its simplest a color referencing system: "The Pantone catalog that we all know provides communication between us and colors. In 2007, Pantone merged with X-Rite, a sector leader in color measurement devices, further strengthening its digital solutions. With the 294 new colors added to the system today, designers will now be able to express their imagined designs with much richer color options."Advertisement
