Gray Gains Popularity in Automotive Paints
Axalta, one of the world's leading suppliers of liquid and powder coatings, has released its 68th annual Global Automotive Color Popularity Report.
The report shows that the most prevalent automotive colors worldwide are white (38%), black (19%) and grey (15%). Grey, which increased its global share by two percentage points, has reached its highest level in 10 years.
White has consistently held 38% of the total global market over the past three years and remains the most preferred automotive color globally for ten consecutive years.
Demand for silver continues to decline across all regions. The popularity of this color has declined to single digits at 9%. Black continues to maintain its year-on-year consistency and remains the favorite of luxury vehicles.
Axalta's Global Automotive Color Popularity Report uses data from every country where consumer vehicles are manufactured and presents detailed production data to enable automobile manufacturers to observe trends and patterns in their markets and globally.
