Niagara Systems Partners with Piston Manufacturer

Niagara Systems, a leading manufacturer of industrial parts washers, has partnered with a local piston producer to increase efficiency and quality in the manufacturing of pistons used in the high-performance automotive industry. In 2020, Niagara Systems and the piston manufacturer came together to develop a washing and metal processing automation line to improve product quality for customers competing in performance racing while increasing piston production to keep pace with high demand. After working with Niagara Systems for a time, the local piston manufacturer focused on achieving a more reliable adhesion surface on their pistons during the skirt coating process. That is when Niagara launched a new industrial parts washing machine that uses a complex chemical process to wash, abrade and then dry pistons to ensure optimal skirt coating adhesion. The automation line standardized the skirt coating process to accommodate nearly all part sizes, providing a uniform and repeatable process that significantly reduced failure rates and minimized labor required for this process while improving production rates. Like every custom metal parts washer developed by Niagara Systems, the specialized piston automation line design was based on the customer's requirements and refined through collaboration and comprehensive quality assurance.
