Masdaf and Danfoss Partner on Energy Efficiency in Industrial Zones Masdaf, a leading brand in the pump sector, and Danfoss, a provider of heating, cooling, motor control systems and power solutions, organized technical training in the Adana Organized Industrial Zone with the aim of reducing energy costs for industrial facilities (OSBs). Within the scope of the training organized for companies in the Adana Organized Industrial Zone (OSB), Masdaf Industrial Group Sales Manager Sibel AKAN shared information on topics including "Eco-Design Applications in Electric Motors and Pumps," "Benefits of Using Frequency Control Systems in Pumps" and "Features of Frequency Control Panels." Noting that savings in pump systems begin with the "electric motor," AKAN continued: "Electricity consumption in the industrial sector accounts for 42 percent of total consumption. Of the electricity used in industry, 70 percent is consumed by electric motors. Thirty percent of the energy consumed by electric motors is used by pumps. For this reason, to achieve energy savings in industrial facilities, the correct pump must be selected and existing pumps must be maintained periodically to ensure the system operates at high efficiency," she said. Emphasizing the benefits of frequency control used in pump technologies, AKAN stated: "Frequency control devices that offer 'Internet of Things' (IoT) technology to pump systems provide real-time access to external units (building automation systems) through Mod-Bus or Bacnet communication protocols, offering control advantages. With remote access capabilities, operations such as turning pumps on and off can be easily performed. When the speed of an oversized system is reduced by 20 percent, energy savings of 51 percent are achieved. Thus, with the system efficiency provided by controllable smart pump technologies, it becomes possible for businesses to save on energy expenses," she concluded. Danfoss Turkey Business Development Manager (DCS) Orhan TAŞDEMİR addressed the importance of correct product selection in frequency converter (motor drive) applications to be used in electric motors and discussed how to reduce electricity costs.
