Mapei to open new plant in Portugal
Mapei's new facility will increase production capacity of its Portuguese subsidiary.
Construction chemicals manufacturer Mapei, one of the world-leading companies in the sector, is continuing its international expansion strategy by opening a new facility in Cantanhede, Portugal, with an investment of approximately EUR 13 million.
The new facility, covering a total area of 26,500 m² (12,000 m² enclosed), is equipped with the latest technology to enable Mapei's Portuguese subsidiary to increase production capacity, expand its product range and strengthen its service to local customers.
"We started our operation in Portugal in 2001 as a small company," said Marco Squinzi, "but we are now among the leading companies in the construction chemicals sector. Thanks to this new and modern facility, we will continue to grow by responding to the demands of the local market and supplying environmentally friendly, innovative, long-lasting and high-quality products such as our Zero product line with completely balanced CO2 emissions."
Over the years, Mapei has contributed to major residential, urban and infrastructure development projects in Portugal including the Porto and Lisbon metro systems, Euro 2004 football stadiums, construction of the Holy Trinity Church in Fatima, expansion of Portela Airport in Lisbon and renovation of the Arade River bridge in Portimão.
