Lafarge's Canadian Plant Shifts to Full ECOPlanet Production
Lafarge Canada Facility Transitions to Full ECOPlanet Production
Lafarge Canada, a member of the Holcim Group and leader in sustainable building solutions, announced the transition to 100% ECOPlanet cement production at its Richmond Cement Plant. ECOPlanet, Holcim's low-carbon cement brand, delivers a significant reduction of at least 30% in CO2 emissions per ton compared to standard Portland cement.
Brad Kohl, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge Canada (West), stated: "This is a proud moment for our organization. This transformation at Lafarge's Western Canada division underscores our strong commitment to accelerating green growth.
As a leader in sustainable building solutions, we take pride in having a positive impact on building solutions throughout their lifecycle without compromising on the quality and long-term durability of our products."
The Richmond facility has played an important role in reducing carbon emissions in the construction sector since the mid-2000s. Recently, the facility reached a significant milestone by transforming cement plant production through various initiatives. This achievement reinforced the company's decarbonization strategy and made it the first cement plant worldwide in the Holcim Group to qualify 100% of cement production as ECOPlanet.
