Knauf Guardex® Protects Against Weather Changes
Knauf Guardex® Protects Against Weather Fluctuations
Knauf's exterior facade underlay plasterboard Guardex® provides top-level protection for 6 months against delamination, warping, cracking, sagging – both during harsh winter weather conditions and when exposed to ultraviolet radiation in summer. Guardex® also plays an effective role in creating safer spaces with its mold prevention and fire-resistance properties.
Knauf, which stands out in the building materials sector with original and innovative solutions, brings comfort and security to living spaces with its Guardex® exterior facade underlay plasterboard. Thanks to its gypsum core resistant to moisture and water, and its specially designed glass fiber mat on both surfaces, Guardex® stands out as an ideal product for protecting buildings from ultraviolet radiation at the start of summer when extreme temperatures arrive, defying harsh weather conditions.
Available in two thickness options – 12.5 mm and 15 mm – the product, when applied with joints and seams sealed, provides secure protection against excessive rain, heavy snow and strong winds, as well as against UV radiation intensifying in summer. Guardex® offers 6 months of durability against delamination, warping, cracking and sagging even in harsh weather conditions.
Antimicrobial structure puts an end to mold formation
Guardex® can maintain its dimensional stability even in serious weather fluctuations. While the mat surface creates a reliable base for polystyrene or mineral wool boards, no expansion occurs during sudden temperature and humidity changes. The dark blue inorganic and cellulose-free glass fiber mat and gypsum-based core in its composition ensure that Guardex® is not only highly moisture-resistant – its antimicrobial property also prevents mold formation. A proactive feature of the product is that its total water absorption value is less than 3%, enabling it to repel water coming into contact with the surface. Should water contact the board, Guardex®'s breathability protects the board against potential damage. With its gypsum mortar and non-flammable mat, Guardex® is classified as A1 non-combustible building material according to TS EN 13501-1. It is safely preferred in all areas where non-combustible material is required by fire regulations and in all designs requiring fire resistance.Advertisement
