Knauf Alçıpan® Safeboard®
Knauf provides radiation protection with Gyproc® Safeboard®, which is as strong as 4-millimetre lead sheets despite being lead-free, transforming spaces into healthy environments that pose no health risks.
In addition to fire resistance, sound insulation, thermal insulation, seismic design, surface quality and facade finishing solutions, Knauf offers high-performance products in security solutions, providing radiation protection with Gyproc® Safeboard®.
Developed by Knauf R&D engineers, the product creates a protective barrier for X-ray rooms in healthcare facilities directly affected by X-ray radiation as well as mammography units, and also for structures such as television studios and datacenters where multiple radioactive radiation-emitting devices are located together.
As strong as lead sheets
Gyproc® Safeboard® is a lead-free product that is as strong and effective as 4-millimetre lead sheets. It provides protection from radiation according to the tube voltage values of the device or devices in the space, and can be applied in a single layer in low-radiation spaces such as mammography units (35 kV). Safeboard®, preferred in partition wall and wall cladding applications, is lighter than lead-lined walls, allowing it to be used in suspended ceilings as well. With a fire reaction class of "A2-s1,d0", it prevents the spread of fire and, thanks to its high density, can provide 6-10 dB more sound insulation compared to standard boards.Special Safeboard® Joint Filler
The product, which is easy to process and offers folding and bending possibilities with its flexible design, can be installed with the same ease as other Gyproc® types. When applied together with Safeboard® Joint Filler, which has X-ray retention, flexibility and high adhesion properties, it provides full performance. Knauf Safeboard® is type DF according to EN 520 and type GKF according to DIN 18180 with additional radiation protection properties. Knauf Safeboard®, which also provides a solution against radiation in areas with high-tech equipment such as news centres, causes no environmental harm during the disposal phase as it is lead-free.Advertisement
