Eight Important Steps by İzocam to Protect the Environment İzocam stands with the world at every step! Drawing inspiration from nature and supporting what is natural, İzocam highlights the activities it has undertaken to protect the environment on "5 June World Environment Day". 1. Since its establishment, İzocam has prevented 650 million tons of CO₂ from being released into the atmosphere through the insulation products it manufactures. With the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050, İzocam has begun implementing numerous projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, limit water consumption and wastewater generation, adapt alternative raw material sources to production processes, and contribute to the circular economy. İzocam has installed energy monitoring systems at its rock wool and glass wool production facilities and implemented recovery and efficiency projects. With the goal of reducing energy consumption, İzocam has also renewed lighting types at all its facilities with environmentally friendly applications. Through improvements in needle-type glass wool products specifically designed for furnace manufacturers, İzocam has also reduced emission levels far below European standards. 2. Reflecting its approach to waste management in its facilities, İzocam operates all of its plants with the "Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate". First obtained by İzocam Tarsus Facility in July 2021, all of its facilities qualified to obtain this certificate as of 2022. Issued by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, this certificate indicates that the facility has completed a series of processes that include preventing waste at the basic level, using resources more efficiently, reviewing the causes of waste generation to prevent or minimize waste generation, and if waste is generated, separately collecting it at the source and ensuring its recovery. 3. Our world now refers to recyclable waste as the "seventh natural resource". Recyclable waste is recognized as the seventh natural resource after air, water, coal, petroleum, natural gas, and minerals. Even though the laws in our country do not require it, İzocam attaches importance to manufacturing products made with recycled materials that have been proven to be harmless to human health and environmentally friendly. Using recycled material referred to as the "seventh natural resource" at a rate of up to 80% in its production, İzocam serves sustainability with its products containing at least 30% recycled content, while also utilizing production waste in the manufacture of new products again. 4. Thanks to the recycled materials used in their production, İzocam Rock Wool and Glass Wool enable buildings in which they are used to obtain green building certificates such as LEED, BREAM, and YeS-TR, our National Green Certification System. 5. İzocam glass wool and rock wool insulation materials containing environmentally friendly materials rank among the most well-known and most trusted products in the world. In the insulation sector, İzocam is distinguished by being the first institution to hold the EUCEB certificate, which proves that fibers that penetrate the body through skin and inhalation are harmlessly expelled from the body. 6. HBCD, defined as a persistent organic pollutant, is used as a flame-retardant additive to delay polymer ignition and slow down potential fire formation. The use of HBCD in polystyrene-based XPS and EPS products has been banned in our country as of November 2019. For this reason, when purchasing XPS and EPS products, care must be taken to ensure they are "HBCD-free". All İzocam brand XPS and EPS products are manufactured within the framework specified by law in a manner that does not harm the environment or human health. 7. İzocam continues to redesign its packaging in a way that emphasizes its contribution to the global objectives set by the United Nations (UN) for Sustainable Development, while also expressing its sensitivity to human health and the environment. İzocam first redesigned the packaging of its glass wool and rock wool products in a way that would express its sensitivity to human health and the environment. By using less paint on the new semi-transparent white packaging and reorganizing package sizes and the amount of packaging used, İzocam achieved environmentally friendly packaging. Finally, İzocam Foamboard's packaging was also redesigned to emphasize its contribution to the United Nations' global goals for Sustainable Development, achieving environmentally friendly packaging.

8. Environment and nature are at the center of social responsibility activities:

With the motto "İzocam stands behind sustainable tomorrows", aiming to make the world a better home, İzocam places the environment, waste management, and recycling at the center of its social responsibility projects as well as its products and facilities. Operating with the mission of leading "good living" and "sustainable tomorrows" last year, İzocam signed an important project to raise public awareness of the importance of insulation for our future. By deciding to change its course to the seas through partnership with Sailmaster, İzocam established the İzocam Sailing Team. In recent months, to draw attention to marine pollution from land-based waste sources, İzocam signed a project in cooperation with the Marine Clean Association/TURMEPA and the Active Fish Men teams and, within the scope of coastal and seabed cleaning activities held at Istanbul Bebek beach, removed a total of 35 kilograms of waste from the sea and sent it to recycling facilities.
