İzocam Uses Seventh Natural Resource in Production Drawing inspiration from nature and supporting what is natural, İzocam drew attention on "18 March World Recycling Day" to the fact that waste is an important part of the environment as well as the economy. Using up to 80 percent recycled material, referred to as the "seventh natural resource," in its production, İzocam is elevating its contributions to recycling through its facilities holding the "Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate" and social responsibility activities. Our world now refers to recyclable products as the "seventh natural resource." Recyclable waste is recognized as the seventh natural resource after air, water, coal, petroleum, natural gas and minerals. The Global Recycling Foundation declared 18 March as "World Recycling Day" to draw attention to valuable waste that is considered the "seventh natural resource" worldwide and discarded daily, with this special day beginning to be celebrated as of 2019. Leading the insulation sector in Turkey for 58 years, İzocam is drawing attention on "18 March World Recycling Day" to the fact that waste is an important part of the economy as well as the environment. Using up to 80 percent recycled material, referred to as the "seventh natural resource," in its production, İzocam serves sustainability through its local products with at least 30 percent recycled content, while providing a healthy living environment for all living things and nature through the content of its products. Drawing inspiration from nature and supporting what is natural, İzocam, through its environmentally friendly facilities holding the "Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate" and social responsibility activities in addition to its products, is elevating its contributions to recycling and waste management to higher levels. Emphasizing that they attach importance to producing products made with recyclable materials, proven to be harmless to human health and environmentally friendly, despite the fact that domestic laws do not require it, İzocam General Director Murat Savcı stated, "İzocam glasswool and rockwool insulation materials containing environmentally friendly materials are among the most widely known and most trusted products in the world. İzocam uses sand, basalt, natural minerals and recycled glass in 80 percent of its production. Production waste is also utilized in product manufacturing. İzocam holds the distinction of being the first institution in the insulation sector to have the EUCEB certificate, which proves that fibers penetrating the body through skin and respiration are harmlessly expelled from the body. Thanks to the recycled materials used in the production of İzocam Rockwool and Glasswool, the buildings in which they are used can obtain green building certificates such as LEED - BREAM and YeS-TR, our National Green Certification System."  

All facilities hold "Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate"

Reflecting their approach to waste management in their facilities as well, İzocam General Director Murat Savcı announced that all their facilities have qualified to receive the Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate, stating, "We were the first to receive this certificate with our Tarsus Facility in July 2021, and as of 2022, all our facilities qualified to receive it. This certificate, issued by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, indicates that the facility has completed a series of processes including preventing waste at the basic level, using resources more efficiently, reviewing the causes of waste generation to prevent or minimize waste generation, and ensuring separate collection at source and recovery in case waste is generated."   Stating that as İzocam, they place the environment, waste management and recycling at the center of their social responsibility projects in addition to their products and facilities, Murat Savcı said, "As İzocam, with our motto 'Behind sustainable tomorrows is İzocam,' we aim to make the world a better place. In order to leave blue coastlines and a living sea for future generations, we must say 'stop' to marine pollution caused by land-based waste sources. As İzocam, to draw attention to this important issue, we recently signed a project in cooperation with the DenizTemiz Association/TURMEPA and Active Fish Divers teams. As part of our coastal and seabed cleaning event held at İstanbul Bebek beach, we formed a volunteer team made up of our colleagues. Our team, which managed to collect 11 kilograms of paper, plastic, metal, glass and non-recyclable waste in just 30 minutes, completed the coastal and seabed cleaning with a 3-hour collaboration. A total of 35 kilograms of waste was removed from the sea and sent to recycling facilities. Our volunteer team, which came together with the goal of making the world a better place, is preparing to continue their work with different events in the coming days."
