Holcim Invests in Neustark
Holcim announces strategic investment in Neustark, an innovative clean technology initiative combating CO2 emissions.
Neustark's breakthrough technology cleverly mineralizes CO2 found in construction demolition materials, effectively removing it from the atmosphere and helping to keep it permanently sequestered.
Holcim's commitment to advancing circular construction and expertise in recycling aligns with Neustark's ambitious target of eliminating one million tonnes of CO2 by 2030. Neustark's pioneering solution is transforming Holcim Switzerland's sustainability practices, paving the way for a global movement in environmentally friendly construction.
Born in 2019 as a spinoff from ETH Zurich, Neustark is led by founders Johannes Tiefenthaler and Valentin Gutknecht, whose proprietary technology represents an important step toward a greener and more sustainable future. The company's innovative operations capture atmospheric CO2, liquefy it, and seamlessly integrate it into recycled concrete, creating a material that is both environmentally friendly and structurally sound, delivering dual benefits.
Tobias Sugg, Head of Holcim Switzerland and Italy RMX Performance, said: "With Neustark, we are leading circularity in the construction sector, demonstrating that recycled and enhanced materials can be at least as good as, or even better than, new materials. We are ready to apply this solution, successfully implemented in Switzerland, globally. We are creating a win-win solution for our sector, our customers, society, and our planet."
