Holcim Launches Environmentally Friendly Cement Optimo
Holcim Launches Eco-Friendly Cement Optimo
Holcim Philippines, Inc. has launched Cement Optimo, a superior alternative to Portland cement (OPC) that reduces climate impact while delivering concrete strength and durability as part of efforts to decarbonize the construction sector. The company developed Holcim Optimo in response to more Filipino contractors shifting toward sustainable construction and demanding eco-friendly alternatives.
Holcim Philippines' new product offers similar concrete performance to OPC while being blended with limestone additives to reduce carbon emissions by up to 10%.
Holcim Optimo is designed as a substitute for conventional material OPC, which is used in major infrastructure and building projects but carries a significant environmental footprint.
Holcim Optimo delivers the same strength, workability and durability as OPC while being compatible with other cement additives such as slag and fly ash. The new product is best used in large building projects and is available in bulk.
Horia Adrian, President and Chief Executive Officer of Holcim Philippines: "Holcim Optimo is part of our commitment to expanding our range of innovative and sustainable products aimed at building necessary structures without compromising the environment.
We have developed an important product at the right time for the Philippines, a period when infrastructure construction is accelerating and demand for eco-friendly products is growing. We are excited to work with our partners to make this cement the preferred choice in the construction of important structures for the Philippines' development," he said.
