Hempel Continues to Invest in China Market and Innovation

Global paints and coatings manufacturer Hempel launched a significant project in China by laying the foundation for a new factory in Zhangjigang. With an annual production capacity of 200,000 tonnes, Hempel's new facility at Yangtze International Chemical Industry Park in Zhangjigang will be the company's largest production plant in the region. The facility will replace Hempel's existing production operations in Kunshan and is scheduled to open in 2022. A foundation-laying ceremony was held on site, led by Michael Mei, Vice President of Hempel Group for North Asia. Michael Mei, Vice President of Hempel Group for North Asia, said: "China is an important market for Hempel, which will continue to grow in the years ahead. This is our second foundation-laying ceremony for a new factory in China in 2020. A combined investment of USD 270 million that will significantly increase our total production capacity in China. I am proud to be part of a company with such strong commitment to the region." Hempel also inaugurated a new research and development facility in Zhangjigang. The company operates a global network of 15 research and development centres. The new facility will replace the existing research and development centre in Kunshan and will serve as a hub for developing sustainable coating solutions for customers in China.   Source
