A Significant Milestone Achieved in H-EVA Application

Milestone Achieved in H-EVA Application Hoffmann Green, Bouygues Construction and Chryso implement first 0% clinker carbon-neutral clay concrete (H-EVA) application on site. Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies has carried out the first pour of 0% clinker decarbonated clay concrete (H-EVA) on a construction site, thereby completing two years of joint R&D as part of its partnerships with Bouygues Construction and Chryso. Over the past two years, research and development teams from the three companies have worked together conducting specialized technical tests to develop low-carbon concrete made from H-EVA cement. The unique and innovative H-EVA cement features a formulation containing zero grams of clinker and has a carbon footprint four times smaller than traditional cement. This cement is based on alkali-activated clay technology developed by Hoffmann Green and is available as a powder that can be stored in silos and has excellent compatibility with existing production processes. With mechanical strength reaching up to 60 megapascals at 28 days, its strong technical performance means it can be used in all types of concrete applications in buildings and roads.   The partnership is now gaining momentum, leading to the launch of the first successful application on a construction site and paving the way for future projects using H-EVA 0% clinker concrete. With the large-scale market launch of this H-EVA clay concrete, Hoffmann Green is further diversifying its by-product supply. These are divided between clay (H-EVA), blast furnace slag (H-UKR and H-IONA), gypsum/desulfogypsum (H-P2A) and calcium sulphate (H-IONA). Co-founders Julien Blanchard and David Hoffmann of Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies stated: "The launch of the first projects using 0% clinker decarbonized clay concrete H-EVA is the result of close cooperation with the Bouygues Construction and Chryso teams. We extend our sincere thanks. This new clay concrete, developed with established and renowned companies in the construction sector and featuring unique technical and environmental characteristics, will allow us to diversify our by-product supply and reach more markets in favor of decarbonizing the construction sector." Christian Cremona, Director of R&D for Materials and Structures at Bouygues Construction, explained: "We are using increasingly lower-impact materials. Our partnership with Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies is part of the group's response to the major challenges of construction while controlling our environmental impact." Bruno Pellerin, Director of R&D at Chryso, added: "Clay, which is at the heart of H-EVA technology, is a material found in large quantities almost everywhere and whose benefits can be fully realized thanks to very special admixtures. Our CHRYSO®EnviroMix and in this case "Ultra Low Carbon" for EnviroMix ULC admixtures have been developed to meet low or very low carbon concrete requirements. Thanks to continuous investment in R&D over many years, we are committed to supporting our customers and partners in reducing the carbon footprint of their operations. This partnership demonstrates the key role of innovation in providing reliable solutions to the new challenges facing the construction sector." Source
