"Design That Breaks the Mold" Competition Concludes

"This year's Rule-Breaking Design Competition theme was set as Futuristic Workplace Furniture. Brought to life with the slogan "You Design the Workplace Furniture of the Future," the competition—a futuristic meeting point of furniture, textiles and natural stone, where DYO ranked among the main sponsors—awarded prizes at the final gala held for the event. Organized with the support of the Ministry of Commerce by Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association, Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association and Aegean Mining Exporters Association, the Rule-Breaking Design Competition—which for the first time brought together furniture, textiles and natural stone—had DYO as main sponsor. The competition aimed to design futuristic workplace furniture that is aesthetic, functional, ergonomic, producible, sustainable and has high export potential, using textiles and natural stone alongside traditional materials employed in furniture manufacturing within the framework of technological developments. The competition received a total of 677 applications, comprising 509 students from 61 different universities and 168 professionals. Prizes in the competition were awarded at the Final Gala held. In addition to cash prizes given to the top three designers in the student category, finalists approved by the Ministry of Commerce were granted 2-year training rights at one of the prominent design schools abroad with Ministry support.
