Evonik Turkey opened a new laboratory for paints and coatings additives at its Tuzla Centre (Istanbul) on 31 January 2017. The highly modern laboratory will support not only customers in Turkey but also throughout the Near and Middle East in the development of innovative surface coatings.
A Customer Service Centre has also been added to the laboratory.
The applied laboratory is fully equipped to meet customer requirements in various paints and printing inks applications.
This allows industrial coatings, automotive paints, wood coatings, construction paints and printing inks to be formulated, applied and tested appropriately.
These can be water-based, UV-cured or solvent-based. The laboratory, equipped with the latest technology, includes among other things its own spray booth and a climate chamber.
The Sales Manager for Coatings and Paints Additives emphasises: "With the new laboratory, we are strengthening our presence in the region. We have thus come closer to the market and are able to provide our customers with technical service and product solutions for developing new formulations in a short time."
The new laboratory and the associated Customer Service Centre employ 5 people. This creates two additional new jobs at the centre.
Evonik Ticaret Ltd. at the Tuzla Centre in eastern Istanbul coordinates sales for the growing neighbouring country markets as well as the Turkish domestic market with a total of 51 employees.
Evonik Ticaret is celebrating its 30th anniversary in Turkey in August 2017 and the opening of the new laboratory adds a new milestone to Evonik's growth strategy in Turkey.
Among the most important Evonik products in Turkey are monomers, amino acids, cyanide, silicic acid and superabsorbent. In addition, Evonik holds a 51 per cent stake in Egesil Kimya Sanayi & Ticaret Şirketi, a joint venture company near Istanbul in Adapazarı for silica production. Evonik recently completed its acquisition of Air Products Performance Materials Division, making it one of the leading paints and additives suppliers in the paints sector. The product portfolio contains more than 500 varieties. The broad product range includes additive materials, supporting binders, matting agents, silicic acids, specialty resins and nano resins. Among globally known brands are AEROSIL®, SURFYNOL® and TEGO® brands.Advertisement
