Eczacıbaşı Yapı Gereçleri opens new in-wall cistern production facility at VitrA Manufacturing Campus in Bozüyük. The opening ceremony at the manufacturing campus was attended by Bülent Eczacıbaşı, Chairman of the Board of Eczacıbaşı Holding. Speaking at the ceremony, Eczacıbaşı stated that building products, which constitute the largest business area of the group, account for more than 50% of Turkey's total ceramic sanitary ware exports. Eczacıbaşı noted that the production facilities, implemented with a total investment reaching EUR 76.5 million, utilize state-of-the-art technology and continued as follows: 'Using the latest technologies, utilizing artificial intelligence in production, we benefit from end-to-end automation from raw material to finished product. Our organization, which places the principle of sustainability at the heart of its business model, embraces this principle from design to production, from supply chain to end-user experience.' Eczacıbaşı emphasized that with the goal of obtaining the energy required for production from renewable sources, they installed a solar power plant at the VitrA Manufacturing Campus this year, and also began purchasing I-REC certified green electricity in 2022, thereby reducing carbon emissions from electricity use in production to zero, noting: 'With this project inspiring other organizations of ours, we have accelerated our renewable energy investments. VitrA demonstrates its leadership in the sector not only through product quality, but also through its sensitivity to equal opportunity with production facility workers who are half male and half female. As our organization, Eczacıbaşı Group, grows with the aim of being a pioneer for a modern, quality and healthy future, we will continue to make significant contributions to Turkey's economic and social development.' Özgen Özkan, Chief Executive Officer of Eczacıbaşı Yapı Gereçleri, also emphasized that they have opened opportunities for equal opportunity through investments that balance technology with human resources and think about the world's future. Özkan, noting that they opened the second phase of the 4th CSW facility in Bozüyük in 2019, stated: 'Within just under 4 years, we are opening our 5th facility. We grow by converting our gains into investments. When European markets, which have lost momentum due to many different factors, enter a growth trend again, we are already prepared to meet the demand that will arise as a priority. We have reached a production capacity of 6.7 million units in ceramic sanitary ware. Thus, we have risen to the position of the 4th largest manufacturer in Europe.' Özkan noted that in addition to the 5th CSW facility, they have relocated in-wall cistern production from within the fittings factory to their newly established facility, increasing their annual capacity to 2 million units, and noted that with the technology investment they have started at the fittings factory and aimed to be completed by the end of 2024, fittings capacity will increase by 50%.
Support for female employment
When all planned stages for the fifth ceramic sanitary ware facility and new in-wall cistern production facility implemented at the VitrA Manufacturing Campus in Bozüyük are completed, the total investment amount will reach EUR 76.5 million. With these two new investments, Eczacıbaşı Yapı Gereçleri aims to meet increasing demand, create the necessary capacity to grow the market, increase efficiency and benefit more from renewable energy sources. One of the most important features of the new investments is contributing to gender equality by increasing female employment. Thanks to ergonomic workstations designed to encourage greater female employment in the production sector and automation throughout the factory, there will be more female workers in the field. While the goal is to maintain complete equality with 50% female and 50% male employment ratio, this goal will also be supported by a literacy campaign organized for women in cooperation with Bilecik Provincial Administration and Bozüyük National Education Directorate.
